Connecting with your ancestors
The month has flown by! I have so many events going on this weekend. I will try to post the different costumes & looks I have to my IG. We are also preparing our home for 𝘋𝘪𝘢 𝘥𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘴 𝘔𝘶𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘰𝘴. Every year I love to see all the beautiful and aesthetic altars on social media. The one thing that makes me sad though is the fact many people don’t actually connect with their ancestors on this day.
Here are some tips to getting a better connection to your ancestors not just for the two days but also when you need their general guidance.
Write them cards & place them on your altar for them. Sum up the last year, thank them for something they did that majorly impacted you, ask for guidance, ect.
Make a playlist that they would love and play it in your home.
Cafe y chisme. Dedicate 15 minutes once a week to set out coffee for an ancestor & yourself. Fill them in on your week.
Reclaim traditions that were lost in assimilation. This could be preparing a meal from scratch or learning a non essential skill that was essential for your ancestors like sewing.
Keep their memories alive but teaching the younger generations about them.
